One of the greatest classical trekking in Argentina
This is one of the most classic and historical trekking in Argentina. Within the Nahuel Huapi National Park and next to the city of San Carlos de Bariloche. We connect the four typical mountain refugee of this region, enjoying the Andean-Patagonian forests in Rio Negro province. Four nights in mountain refugee, one night in Colonia Suiza and 1 or 2 nights in Bariloche city.
We offer a shorter version , joining 2 refuges (Frey and Jakob/San Martin) in 3 days. See the itinerary below.
Proposed itinerary:
Day 1: Group meeting in Bariloche city. Time to check the equipment. Transfer to Villa Catedral. First section will be to Emilio Frey shelter, located in the South of Cerro Catedral. 2 to 3 hours until Van Titter Brook. Stop for lunch. 2 more hours to get to teh shelter, along the Tonceck laggon. Our campsite will be places next to the shelter (optional: stay overnight in the refuge). Dinner
Day 2: Breakfast. We left very early to enjoy a long day of trekking. We climb up to Schmoll lagoon and then we descent to the bottom of the great Rucaco Valley (3 to 4 hours). Stop for lunch. In the afternoon we continue our way up to reach a large edge where we get a stunning view of the Jakob lagoon and its surroundings. Steep descent to the lagoon and San Martin shelter (4 hours). Our campsite will be places next to the shelter (optional: stay overnight in the refuge). Snack and rest. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Breakfast. Walk to Témpanos lagoon and Paso Schweizer. Quiet day. Free time to enjoy the lagoons and great sceneries. In te afetrnoo, we return to, San Martin refuge. Snack and rest. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Breakfast. Descent throught Casa de Piedra Valley. After a 6 hour walk, we arrive to the end of the path, where we will wait for our transfer that will take us to Bariloche, after midday. End of our services.
Each person carries his own backpack. This trekking has a moderate physical and technical difficulty.
